This was my first serious mod and my first serious paintjob.
Pretty much, I sanded down a nitefinder and just applied paint where I could. I traveled through my garage picking up bits of this and that and took apart an old Cuckoo Clock for the gears. Unfortunately, time has aged this blaster. A lot of the brass gears are gone, but the paint job is still there and awesome. I just need to fix this plunger to get it into working order again.
This gun sort of set up my style for the years ahead. I play Humans vs Zombies, so I wanted to make a gun that didn't look like a gun, but was distinctly steampunk, so I could use it outdoors without the police hassling me.
On the side, we have steel gears from some hardware piece, the chimes from a cuckoo clock, and a dental mirror for looking around corners. We also have a watch face from an old broken wristwatch.
With all of the steam punk guns I do, I aim for some pretty small, but awesome details. For example, all of the Nerf screws are replaced with brass rivets.
Also, I get a couple of questions about the two extension springs in the back. They are like rubber bands for the nitefinder, but sexier. Seriously, the pull on the plunger rod is ridiculous. You need a serious catch spring to make this work.
